Who we are
The Albanian Australian Community Association (AACA) is a community association in Australia. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our members and website users. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, how we use and protect it, and your rights.

What we collect
When you register as a member, we collect: your first name and surname, year of arrival in Australia, residency status (permanent resident, citizen, or other), email address, phone number, profession, suburb, and nationality.
If you make a payment (membership or event tickets), payment is processed securely by our payment provider — we do not store your card details.
Why we collect it
We collect this information to: manage your membership, contact you about events, services and association matters, respond to your requests for support, and understand the make-up of our community so we can serve it better (for example, knowing which services are most needed).
Providing your nationality is part of understanding and representing the Albanian-Australian community. You provide this information voluntarily when you register.
How we protect it
- Your contact details — your email address and phone number — are never shown to any administrator or staff member anywhere on the AACA website. They are stored so that our website can send you the messages you expect (such as verification, receipts and notifications), but no administrator using the site sees them. Where we need to email you, our system sends the message on our behalf without revealing your address to anyone.
- This protection applies everywhere on our website, including internal searches and our records of sent emails — your address is not displayed in any of them.
- If you volunteer to run a welcome session, your name, email address and phone number are shared with the member you are matched with, so that they can contact you about the session. This applies only to volunteers, and only for the session they have accepted.
- The rest of your personal information (name, profession, and similar) is accessible only to authorised committee administrators of AACA, and is not available to the general membership or the public.
- We report only aggregate statistics about our community (for example, the number of members by suburb or nationality). These summaries never identify individuals: any group smaller than five people is combined so that no single person can be identified from them.
- We use reputable third-party services to operate: Stripe (payment processing for membership and event tickets), Resend (sending verification, receipts and notifications) and MailerLite (newsletters and announcements). Your information is shared with these providers only to the extent needed to deliver these functions, and staff who administer those provider accounts can see the email address held there.
Who can see your information
Your personal information is accessed only by AACA committee administrators who manage the website and membership. It is not sold, rented, or shared with anyone outside AACA except the service providers described above, or where required by law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on our website, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
