Privacy policy
Draft — pending legal review before launch
Who we are
The Albanian Australian Community Association (“AACA”, “we”) operates this website. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
When you register we collect your name, email address, phone number, visa status, date of arrival in Australia, profession and nationality (or nationalities).
Visa status and nationality are sensitive information. We collect them only with your consent, given when you submit the registration form, and only to tailor settlement support to your circumstances.
If you buy event tickets or pay membership, our payment provider processes your card details. We never see or store your full card number.
When you raise a support request we store what you write in it, along with our replies.
Why we collect it
To operate your account and verify your email address.
To sell event tickets, manage membership, and answer your support requests.
To understand, in aggregate, what settlement support our community needs.
Who can see it
Association administrators can see member records, including visa status and other sensitive fields.
Support agents can see the support requests they work on and the requester's name and email — they cannot browse member records, membership, events or news.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties except where the law requires it or where a service provider (payment processing, email delivery, hosting) needs it to operate the site on our behalf.
Where it is stored
Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on a server we manage, with uploaded images held in Cloudflare R2 object storage. Backups are encrypted in transit and retained on a rolling basis.
Your rights
You can view and correct most of your profile information from your account page at any time.
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account. Contact us using the details below.
If you think we have mishandled your personal information you can complain to us, and then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

We use a cookie to keep you logged in and a cookie to remember your language preference. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
